Sacred Path of Light · Legacy Series
Your interactive workbook for Building Your Skool Community A to Z, from first purpose to full monetization.
How to use this
This workbook holds every decision across the whole community build, from your purpose and identity through setup, content, engagement, growth, and monetization, all in one place.
Work through the tabs in order if you're moving through the course lesson by lesson, or jump to whichever tab matches where you are right now.
Every entry saves automatically in your browser, on this specific device, as you type, so you can close this page and pick up exactly where you left off. Just know it won't carry over if you switch to a different computer or phone, so it's best to keep working from the same device throughout the course. Each tab has its own export to PDF button if you want to download that section on its own, and on the final tab you'll find an option to export the complete workbook as one document.
Lessons 1 – 4
Before anything gets built inside Skool, get clear on why this community exists, who it's for, what it's called, and how it's structured.
Before You Begin
A follower can scroll past anything without a second thought. A member shows up because they belong somewhere. This section is about defining the home you're building before you build it, its purpose, its name, and the tiers that will hold it.
A year from now, my community is...
One honest sentence about what you imagine this becoming. You'll return to this as the course unfolds.
What would actually change if my audience became a community instead of an audience?
My community's purpose
This community is for people who want ___, and it will help them ___. This becomes the anchor for every content, event, and offer decision ahead.
Naming & Identity
Draft a few directions, then test them before you commit.
Name options & taglines
Try identity-based (Scribes, Alchemists), outcome-based (The Profitable Author), or metaphor-based (The Lighthouse Collective) directions. Say each one out loud, check domain and social handles, and share a shortlist with a few trusted people.
Chosen name & tagline (for now)
Not necessarily final, just what feels most true right now.
The feeling this community should evoke
Warm and expansive, grounded and practical, high frequency and activating, whatever matches your brand honestly. This shapes your tone, visuals, and content going forward.
Tier Structure & Pricing
For most people, starting with freemium, a real free tier before any ask to pay, is the smartest path. Every tier needs its own clear reason to exist, not just more of the same thing.
Standard Tier (Free or Low Ticket)
This is your entry point, whether it's completely free or a low-ticket way in. Price reflects the transformation you offer, not just what feels comfortable to charge.
Price What's included NotesPremium Tier
This tier needs to feel like a clear, worthwhile step up, deeper courses, more advanced material, or expanded access, not a slight variation on Standard.
Price What's included NotesVIP Tier
The most direct, high-touch, or exclusive level, direct access, higher-touch elements, or anything that justifies being the top of the ladder.
Price What's included NotesUpgrade path & pricing research
Research comparable communities for market awareness, then price from value, not fear. What's the natural path from one tier to the next?
Lessons 5 – 6
Everything decided in Foundation comes together here. Watch the setup walkthrough for the step-by-step build, use this as your companion reference.
A Note on This Tab
The about page is often the single deciding factor between someone joining and someone scrolling past. Lead with the transformation, not a list of features, and speak directly to the person you defined in your purpose statement.
Skool Setup
Classroom structure
The classroom tab is where your courses and structured content live. Sketch out the modules and lessons you'll build, and how members will navigate through them without getting lost.
Your profile as owner
This is often the first real impression a new member gets of you, your photo, your bio, the tone you set from the very start.
About Page & Packaging
About page copy
Answer three things fast: who this is for, what transformation it offers, and what's actually inside.
Group description
Often the very first text someone sees before clicking in further. It needs to hook quickly, no room for a slow build.
Tier descriptions
Each tier needs its own clear, distinct description so the difference between them is obvious enough that upgrading feels like an easy next step.
Skool discovery keywords
Skool lets you set keywords that help your community get found through the Skool network. Choose ones that match how your ideal member would actually search.
Cover image & favicon
Your cover image is the first visual impression on the community page itself, and your favicon needs to stay recognizable even at a small size. Both should stay visually consistent with your community's overall identity and energy.
About page images & video
Images on your about page should show what's actually inside, not just decorative graphics. You have 6 slots to work with, images, a video, or a mix of both, so plan out the concept and what each one needs to communicate before you create them.
Lessons 7 – 9
What keeps members showing up, and what gives them a fast, real win the moment they join.
A Note on This Tab
A new member who doesn't experience value in the first few days is a member who quietly disappears. Structure provides consistency, but leave room for responding to what's actually happening in real time.
Content Rhythm
Sketch out your content rhythm
This doesn't have to be a weekly rhythm if that's not how you work. What content do you want to create, a weekly theme, a more free-flowing rhythm, a mix of both? Repeatable formats reduce decision fatigue, but leave room to respond to what's actually happening in the community too.
Your Core Offer
The entry point that turns curiosity into commitment.
Core offer
A short challenge, mini-course, or focused resource that solves one specific, immediate problem and leads naturally into the next step.
Content Library Across Tiers
What lives in each tier
Each tier needs content that justifies its price point. If a lower tier already includes most of what a higher tier offers, upgrading stops making sense.
Overlap or gaps to check
Lessons 10 – 13
The first members set the tone for everyone who joins after them. Seed real engagement, a warm onboarding, clear guidelines, and a reason to show up live.
Seeding Engagement
One recurring ritual to start this week
A weekly check-in, a themed prompt, a specific day tied to a specific activity. Consistency matters more than novelty here.
Onboarding New Members
The first seven days decide whether a new member stays active or quietly fades.
My onboarding sequence
Plan the pieces first, then write out the full welcome message below so you can come back to it any time.
My full welcome DM
Write out the complete message here so it's easy to find and reuse every time someone new joins.
Community Guidelines & Moderation
Draft community guidelines
Clear, simple guidelines covering tone, respect, self-promotion policy, and what isn't welcome. This protects the community's energy, it isn't about control.
Live Events
Plan out your one-time or recurring live event
Teaching, coaching, connection, or celebration, with a consistent structure members can rely on even as topics change. Planning a separate event for Premium or VIP? Add another below.
Lessons 14 – 15
Used with intention, points and levels reward the behaviors that build a healthy community. Long-term retention is what keeps members showing up months later.
Points, Levels & Leaderboards
What actually matters here
Consistent engagement, completing courses, supporting other members. Decide what you want the system to reward, then let it reflect that.
Framing recognition
A leaderboard can motivate some members and alienate others if it starts feeling like a race. Frame levels and recognition around growth and contribution.
Long-Term Retention
My check-in habit
A simple, recurring habit of checking engagement patterns loosely, not obsessively, and noticing members who've gone quiet.
Re-engaging quiet members
Keep it simple and warm, not a sales pitch. Point them toward something concrete, an upcoming event, a new piece of content.
Lessons 16 – 17
Organic strategies can build a strong community without a marketing budget, and for soul-led creators, they often build the most aligned foundation.
Organic Growth
This month's organic growth strategy
Choose one to focus on rather than trying all of them at once: consistent content pointing to the community, member referrals, a free challenge, a focused resource, or cross-promotion with aligned creators.
Skool Directory
Current state check
Skool's features change over time, treat this as a snapshot. Rankings respond to engagement and activity, not just member count.
Current directory ranking (if visible)Lessons 18 – 20
Turning free members into paid ones, deciding whether ads make sense yet, and pricing from worth rather than fear.
Free-to-Paid Conversion
My conversion path
A nurture email sequence, recurring community posts highlighting paid tier value, and an occasional call open to free members. Track roughly how long it takes engaged free members to convert.
Paid Ads
Ad strategy
A landing page outside Skool gives full conversion tracking at the cost of an extra step. Running ads straight to the about page is simpler but offers little visibility into what's working.
Pricing Psychology
Honest pricing review
Pricing decisions made from fear of losing members tend to keep value, and confidence, artificially low. Does your current pricing reflect worth or fear?
Lesson 21 & Closing
The right numbers tell you exactly what to pay attention to. Then, a moment to acknowledge what you've actually built.
Tracking Community Health
Metrics I'll track consistently
No single metric tells the whole story on its own, look at growth, engagement, retention, and ranking together.
My weekly check-in
Set the day you sit down and log your numbers. Track them in your community metrics tracker.
Day of the weekMy monthly check-in
✦ Your Community Is Now Live
Foundation & Strategy gave you the purpose, identity, tier structure, setup, and packaging. Content & Engagement gave you the core offer, content library, onboarding, guidelines, and events. Growth & Monetization gave you organic growth, platform tools, converting free to paid, ads, and pricing. A community is a living thing, not a finished project, so revisit these tabs periodically as it grows.
What I've built so far
Take a moment to acknowledge it before moving forward.
Where I want this to be a year from now
Look back at what you wrote in Foundation & Purpose. Has it shifted? Refine it here.
